I have decided to embark on an adventure into the unknown.

The plan is simple: Saigon to Istanbul – Overland!

Easy ey? well sure if you take the railroads north through China and Russia, it’s no problem, however, on this trip there are rules…

and the rules are simple:

1. No advance organisation of any kind is allowed, other than for specialized functions that require advance organisation.
2. All travel must be overland with as many different types of transport used as possible.
3. No country is off limits.
4. Russia is off limits.

That means there are two paths of travel that at this stage appear remotely safe:

Path 1:   India – China – Kazakhstan – Kyrgyzstan – Tajikistan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Azerbaijan – Armenia – Georgia – Turkey

Path 2:   India – Pakistan – Iran – Azerbaijan – Armenia – Georgia – Turkey
